how to enter smaller task durations such as 20 seconds

I wanted to enter a small task which is taking approximately 10 seconds to 12
seconds.

How can I do this in project

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

Sorry, this is not possible in Project. If you planing is typical for that
small a period, you could plan it in minutes and let it be known that 1 min
= 1 sec.

Project's minimum time period is 1 minute. So why such a short duration?

Any time I want to schedule and track tasks of very short duration, such as
"verify equipment has been delivered", I set it up as a 'milestone' (0 in
duration column) which can still be scheduled and marked as 'complete' and
have dependencies, etc.
