how to install office 97

i have an office 97 cd and am running windows xp home edition. when i click
the install icon on the cd wizard it just gives the hour glass for about a
second then stops. it won't install. what can i do to install? i need the
powerpoint and other features, but don't want to buy new software. i know it
is good software, i checked it on my daughter's computer. installed with no
problems, but she is running windows nt. please help.

Office 97 should work with Windows XP, but some users have reported problems
installing and/or updating Office 97 after Windows XP Service Pack 2 is
installed. You might have to uninstall WinXP SP2, install Office 97 and
related service packs, and reinstall WinXP SP2.
