How to keep content library w file no matter the computer?

- created publisher doc; saved on network
- added items to a content library
- opened doc on another computer thinking the same content library would
open...but it doesn't
- several people need to be able to pick and choose the parts they want to use
- don't want to zip the file (which is what happens when you pack and go)
too cumbersome
- tried saving the document as a template, but when opened on another
computer, still no content library

Any ideas?

What version Publisher?
The objects in the Content Library are only available from publication to
publication in version 2007.

Earlier versions the content was available only in the publication the objects
were created in.

If your publication was created in 2007, save to the local drive, copy to the
network. It may make a difference.

Hi Mary. I am using Publisher 2007 and testing on other people's computers
with 2007.
I have tried everything! and nothing keeps the content library with the
file. Tried
1. Your suggestion (saving to c: then back to network)
2. Saving to Sharepoint document library - checking in/out on different
computer
3. packaged up and unzipped
4. Saving as template
5. Tried adding images as links to the content library instead of only
embedded...still didn't load!

Then I tried to find where on my C: drive the content library info is being
stored...e.g like when you copy your Internet favourites folder to another
computer. But can't find this yet. Thought I could maybe import or export the
library, but that is not an option. I am thinking this is just not possible
in this version!

Anyone else got any ideas?

Thanks.

Under Vista it is stored in this folder:
C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Publisher\Content Library

Under XP I'd hazard a guess at:
C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\Local
Settings\Microsoft\Publisher\Content Library

Hi Ed. Thank you - the folder location was helpful. For some reason my local
settings folder is hidden so it didn't exist until I searched...

However, when I finally located the folder and copied it to my colleague's
local drive, rebooted, re-opened file (ever hopeful) but the content library
still didn't load!

Sigh. Any other thoughts to guide/direct a file to the content library?

Do you have Windows XP as well? If you have Vista the Content Library is in a
folder similar to this:
C:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Publisher

What issue are you experiencing when trying to use the Content Library? Are you
getting an error? Is your version on Publisher 2007? Is it a trial?

The images can be copied to the new computer, Publisher will automatically
create the Content Library folder. There are two files per image that need to to
be copied.
