How to make a "default home page"?

Hi,

Can anyone point me to where can I find ASP scripts similar to "make this
page as the default home page"?

I wish to offer this choice for our site visitors who can bookmark our main
page as their default page.

It's easier to give a link to instructions for each browser like "How to
make this page your hone page" (google for instructions then cut and paste).

Or you will need to write code for each browser. Most exmples on the NET
are for IE. I use primarily FF.

Thanks and did not expect that is complicated as well. Yes, too many
different browsers plus different versions plus different platform plus
different bugs....

Also, you might want to think about how many people really need to see your
web site first every single time they open their browser. Is it realistic to
expect that? Does it have new information that a lot of people need to check
every day? Or do you just want your web site to be well-visited - a good
goal, but there are better ways to achieve that.

Thanks.

We certainly considered about all points mentioned, and perhaps even more,
for our "marketing" approach.

As far as for realistic or not, well, it depends on how one look at it.
Some people watch commercials and some don't. So is it realistic for
business to do ad in one way or the other? I guess the answer is not an
simple Yes or No.

The intension is to provide a mean for people if they wish to. And the
question for why they would want it, I guess is not a subject here.

Then "PC" gave you the answer - you need to write code for each browser.
Code for IE only wouldn't work for me, either, or for some 15% of users.

Here's an example of a site which has done this:

code by Googling - maybe you can if you look further.

Thanks for the tip and yes I did Google before checking here.

I could not find too many tips neither. And the intension is being dropped.

The advise for providing an instruction for how to manually add to the
browser is much better and wiser than coming up a code.

The biggest advantage of the advise (which we failed to consider) is that it
will not produce potential problems for user from any compatibility issues,
which then will produce more harms than goods.

Therefore, we decide to take the advise and not to use any codes but to
provide instructions for how to set up our site as their default page, if
they wish to.
