How to make a field in word

D

Dan

I am trying to make a service ticket form for my techs on word and want to
have certain areas like company name, address, etc where its a field and
there will be like a gray box that you click on and you can enter the info
in. So this way it wont push the rest of the wording foward and mess up my
form.

That is not what he is looking for. I have the same question and this
suggestion doesn't help at all.

Then perhaps pressing the F1 key and typing in the the word "Forms"
will give you an example of whatever it is you are looking for.

Typically when creating forms, using borderless Word tables are the
best method. Tables control space allocation of form fields and the
overall placement of text on the screen or printed form.

For example you can set a row to an exact height to keep the row from
expanding. This combined with the maximum number of characters in a
form field enables you to control where each item of text will be
located both before and after the form fields are filled in. This
allows you to retain the look of forms completed on a computer,
typewriter, or by hand.
