How to make Outlook the default address book when not using MIE?

I use Eudora for email but like Outlook for my address book in Word. I can't
seem to get Word to access Outlook unless I am using MIE which I wish not to
do.

MIE?
Do not expect to be able to use Outlook's mail transports if you have not
enabled it.

Perhaps the question I should have asked is how to "enable it". I don't
recall having to do anything special in Office '97.

You make Outlook your default mail program and Contact List manager in
Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs.

Checked that and everything seems to be correct. I want Eudora for my default
email program and it is. Outlook is checked for contact list. Yet, it remains
inaccessible from Word.

Of course it does. You did not do what I told you.
You cannot access Outlook from Word if you are not using it as your email
program.

In Office '97 I was able to use Outlook and Eudora. So, I was surprised to
find I could no longer do so in '03. I much prefer Eudora so will just have
to manually change it whenever I want to use the contact information in
Outlook.

Thanks for your help.
