How to move Tools

A

Alain Desaivres

After creating a custom tools that is a kind of sub-menu - how can we move
one or several tools with associated data from the first level to this second
sub-menu level?

This happen quite often when after creating a WS and some tools inside - we
need to re-organize a little bit and therefore as an example create a Custom
tool called "Gallery" and want to move inside already created and populated
"Pictures" tools...

Same question when the need is to move a tool with included data from one WS
to another WS...

Work Around accepted if exist...

hi Alain

Export the data from the tool, create a new copy of the tool where you want
it, and re-import.

Then check it.

Then delete the old one.

Hi Alain,

If you need to copy a subset of the a tool content to a new workspace and
you work with files :

- Add a file tool to your second workspace
- Launch GrooveIT! for My Documents (http://www.grooveit.biz/en/gitdocs)
- Select your first workspace as source, select your second workspace as
target, select the files you would like to replicate, and click on "Publish"

Hi Fabrice // Thanks for the hint but moving a file tool from one layer to
another one is far from bein the most difficult thing to realize - except
perhaps that while doing that the original dates are perhaps lost (neeed to
check)...

I was rather facing the situation where what you want to move with a minimum
of modifications in the content (including dates and who created) is a set of
picture tools with having each tens of pictures or a tool coming from a
form...
