How to permanently delete email stuck in 'deleted files' folder

O

Osyris

When I attempt to empty my deleted files folder I get an error message
stating that the file is already deleted or I do not have the necessary
permission. There does not appear to be a 'permission' problem .

The problem file is an email to multiple recipients which got stuck in the
outbox and could not be opened as it was continually 'sending' - without
success. Eventually I managed to delete the email but it is now 'stuck' in
the deleted file folder - and is preventing the emptying of that folder. I
have tried working offline but the problem persists.
Help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Delete an item stuck in the Outbox folder:
- Load Outlook.
- Put Outlook in offline mode (File -> Work Offline: enable).
- Exit Outlook.
- Load Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe").
- Delete the stuck item in the Outbox folder.
- Put Outlook in online mode (File -> Work Offline: disable).
- Restart Outlook in its normal mode.

Try selecting the message, then holding Shift while you press Delete.
