how to prevent users from adding more pages to the document in MS.

Hello Pathfinder-

Either or both of two thing:

1- You can save the file with a Read Only password in Tools>Options>Security
or through the Save As dialog box, or
2- Use Tools>Protect Document

Specifics may vary some depending on version of Word, which you do not
mention in your post.
