How to print list of contents of a Word folder

D

Dee90nine

I have 100 documents saved in a Word folder and I need to print out a list of
the documents contained in the folder as opposed to printing out each
document individually. Can somebody please tell me how to do this?

Thanks!

I was trying to do this at work just this past week. (Unfortunately it
doesn't work for me because the files I need are on a network.) Google for
Print directory. There were several sites - I didn't bookmark them.

It looked like it would but the files that I wanted on a printed list are on
a server and when I tried to run the command, it wouldn't let me. Bummer - I
had to resort to a screen print. It does what I need it to do but talk about
a waste of ink. :-(

Hi JoAnn,

You may be able to use this technique to print the list.

When I tried the command line I got an error message something about being
across a UCD ...... (Sorry - crappy memory and it was on my work system, not
home.)

I'll see if this method will work and let you know.

I'm at work now and I tried the Outlook method. It worked like a charm. I
can't install software on this computer so I am limited to what I can and
can't use. I did have to create a shortcut to the folder so I could find it
easily. Sometimes networks are set up to be more intricate than a spider's
web.

I'll have to see what works at home. But now that I think about it, I rarely
need to do that at home. :)

If you have Outlook 2000 or earlier (not 2003), you can create a new Group on
our Outlook Navigation Pane into which you can add this as as Outlook
Shortcut to your Word Folder by just right-clicking on the Pane.

The Add to Outlook Dialog Box should open up automatically. All you have to
do then is change the default setting from Outlook to File System with that
selection, the default folder name is automatically switched to "My
computer". You can now select your Folder and it will be added to the
Outlook Navigation Pane.

To print the list of the contents of the Word Folder from within Outlook,

¦ - Display the folder
¦ - Click on File
¦ - Choose page Setup
¦ - Select Table
¦ - Preview
¦ - Print

Have a go, once you have, you can selelct and amend the formatting of the
fields you want to display etc. It is really a great tool, one I am still
trying to find within Outlook 2003!

Good luck
