Answer: Yes, under certain conditions. If you are using Project Server,
there is a Substitute Resources wizard under the Tools menu. If you are
not using the server version but are using a resource pool, simply make
the substitution in the resource pool. If you are not using a resource
pool, it can still be done but it gets a little more complicated. In
that case the only automated option I can think of is through a VBA
macro that basically loops through all tasks in all projects and makes
the change.
However, even a manual approach can be streamlined. First create a
master file of all the subprojects (Insert/Project) that has Joe as a
resource. Then on the combined Resource Sheet of the master (it will
show the resource sheets of all inserted projects) use a simple filter
for Joe. Finally, replace Joe with Bill. Once the subprojects of the
master are saved, you can delete the master if you no longer want to
keep it.
