How to Remove Office 2003

W

Wijono Hadikusumo

Somehow I came to the situation, when I start the Outlook 2003, it does not
start Outlook, instead it tries to do the "detect and Repair...", but only
the first pop-up comes up, nothing else happens, I have to click "Cancel" to
stop it.

The same thing happens when I try to reinstall Office 2003 SP2. The OS is
WinXP Proffessional SP2. Can any one help how to completely remove and clean
Office 2003, and perhaps also the previous ones (I was using Office XP
before), so that I can reinstall Office 2003?
Thanks a lot.

Rather than uninstall and reinstall (which seldom fixes any problems) try
this:

For Outlook, create a new mail profile under Control Panl->Mail
Icon->Profiles.
For the SP 2 problem, use the FullFile rather than the smaller download.

When you start Office via an advertised link, Windows Installer checks if
everything is installed. Somehow it can't find the registration in your
profile. That's why the repair screen is shown.
If you have the nessecary administrative rights you should let the repair do
it's thing.
You can also uninstall Office and then install it again.

You can look in the Eventvwr on the computer to see what's is causing the
repair.
