the way i know to remove a split is to move the bar in gantt chart, is there
any field that store the split information? Can edit the field to add or
remove split in table?

thanks in advance

John,

Thank you very much. it works well.
but I still wondar how MS-project know where is the split for tasks with no
work assigned. if you split a task by dragging in gantt chart, when you look
at in task usage view, no values for work assignement, but MS-project know
where is the split.

Haixiang,
Although there is not a specific field for splits, the effect of a split
task can be readily seen on one of the Usage views (Resource or Task).
The Usage views can also be used to both create and remove splits from
tasks. For example, do a split view with the Gantt on top and one of the
Usage views on the bottom. Set the timescale so the split period of the
task shows in the lower pane (you will see "0h" during the split). To
remove the split, move (or add) hours to the cells in the Usage view
that have "0h". To add a split, move (or delete) hours from the period
where you want to split to occur.

Hope this helps.

Haixiang,
You're welcome.

How does "it" know? You told it when you dragged the Gantt bar. If a
task has no resources assigned, manually creating a split on the Gantt
causes a Duration split, meaning the task has a forced period of "down
time". Any subsequent assignment of resources will follow that split and
work hours for those resources will show as "0h" during the split period
on the Usage views.
