How to repair MS Word files?

All MS Words on my HDD gone to be corrupted.
When i open the file it says to convert to MS-DOS format ??
how can i repair these files?

I formated my HDD, when i copy my backuped files from another HDD it doesnt
work.
When i open the file it says to convert to MS-DOS format .
How to make it working?

Was the HDD encrypted? I don't know anything about that, but if that could
be the issue, you might ask in a Windows newsgroup.
