How to restore mail, contacts etc from backup

Hello,

A friend who has Entourage 2004 had a hard drive failure and had to
reload the OS and office from scratch. A data recovery firm was able to
recover most of the data from her original hard drive.

I will be helping her out with restoring all her contacts, mail etc from
her original date. By researching this it looks like to do this it
would be as simple as copying the "database" file from the
"Documents\Microsoft User Data\Office 2004 Identities\Main Identity"
directory onto the new hard drive replacing the existing file.

Would this achieve the desired result of restoring everything from the
backup?

Would using Import be a better option in this situation?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would suggest copying the entire Main Identity folder. That should get her
back to the point where she was when that folder was backed up.

BTW, you can't "import" from a version 2004 database into Entourage 2004.
You can only import from previous versions to a newer one.
