how to set up a password

i'd like to have some security on my computer. now anyone
can turn it on and read all my outlook and other files. i
have ms Millenia Edition. how can i set up a password so i
am the only one who can get to my files. many thanks for
any help i can get. (my organization has not been able to
find a solution for me)
