how to show auto-playback short movie(17 slides) in webpage?

Dear all,

How to insert such short movies into my webpage using frontpage or
word?

I generated a GIF(supposed to be able to animate) and insert into
Word, then save as webpage but the image does not show up, it has a
red cross there, not to say animate...

I guess I did not know some syntax to make an animated GIF in html...
can anybody help me?

By the way, is there any more elegant way of doing a short movie
embedded in the webpages and playback automatically?

Thanks a lot,

-Walala

keep your animated gif out of word.
after you make your animated gif save it to a location on your computer,
then with the web you want it in open in FrontPage click file/ import and
import the gif into your FrontPage web, then place it on your page and
publish.

depending on the size of the gif (file size) you may want to look at some
other technology like flash or possibly a wmp type movie format. I think I
remember seeing a Microsoft program called "plus" that was cheap and, as I
remember, had the ability to make short movies like this.

I don't know if this will help but simple code typed in with Notepad gave
me this
http://home.comcast.net/~wlfwanda/Animate/index.html
I created gif with Ulead Gif Animator 5 the first day I installed it.
Forgive me if this is not what you want but I am very new to all this and
find it entertaining.

I use gif animator 5 also. I would recommend that you try to keep your
background stationary and before you save the gif you can use the "optimize
wizard" and make sure it "removes redundant pictures" you'll get a much
smaller file size.
gif animator will also save the gif in flash format. here is one I made
with it and saved as flash:

That looks nice. I know I need more practice and have no idea whatsoever or
skills in creating cartoon style animation so I have been using videos of
real life subjects. I seem to get good results when viewing with my 2.4 gig
box but drastically different results with slower machines. I am always
wondering what others see. For a smaller file I just define the size in the
code which does allow smother flow. I tried 'Optimizer' feature but I must
not be doing it right as it does not seem to do anything or make any
changes. I have tried both video and still frames saved from video file. I
have not tried Flash format but now that you have pointed this out to me I
will do so right away. I did not add any stationary to keep the code simple
and did this after I read the OP for the purpose of example. Thanks very
much for the responce and pointers as I mentioned I am real new to this and
appreciate all the advice I can get.

no sweat, it's a cool program. you may want to do some of the tutorials on
ulead's site. the idea is to get your background in your case the hand and
greenery as an object then set it as the background of each "frame" then
you'd take the object in your case the hummingbird and place it where you
want in the frame, set another key frame with the object in the new location
and "tween" the frames.
the reason you're getting such a big file size is there are too many frames
and removing redundant pixels is impossible because the background keeps
moving from frame to frame.

HTH and good luck.

I understand the concept but I am at a loss as to how to get the
background of the video set aside from the hummingbird as everything is
moving together as it was shot. I have gone over the tutes @ Ulead but I
didn't see much on editing a video other than setting the length. I could
cut out frames inbetween and shorten it to reduce the size. Like I mentioned
it looks good when viewed online from my system but I am unsure how it
appears to others. As for speed I could speed up the original video in NLE
SW before I render it or even render to smaller size output. I guess I have
some relearing to diassociate the process from the vid editing I am
accustomed to. I am sure I could grasp this if I were CREATING the animation
with setting up a background then adding other layers but either I am a bit
slow or just really confused.

Thanks

I didn't realize that was actual live video. you'd be better off running it
through a windows media player as an mp3 or other format of actual video.
the file size is way too big as a gif.
I didn't understand how you got the video. I thought you made it from
separate objects.
there is a good windows media player plug-in on Microsoft's site.

Thanks Chris. I am really new to all of this web design and starting out
with GA5 as my first APP. I have only been using Videos to start with and
staying away from animation creation as an artist I am not. This so far has
been very easy to do and learn. I select a small sequence of a video using
IrfanView to create seperate Jpegs adding them to GA or just adding the
video as it after cut. I have been trying different size clips to see what
looks best with as large a viewing area as possible. I hope to go on to
streaming as soon as I find I need to know in the line of code to make this
possible. So far adding Gif files is a simple one liner. Not that difficult.
I suppose I could start by editing each frame of video to get better looking
output but I am not sure if this would be worth all the work if streaming
will be what is best in the end. Maybe gif animation is good in its limited
way. The particular hummingbird video I selected was originally shot with
anolog and the digital clips I have shot are by far better quality. I will
look into the WMP plug-in you suggest.
Thanks again Chris
