How to uninstall infected office xp completely so to reinstall

My office program (word) is not responding and when I uninstall - I can't get
the whole program out - a new program install just gets me back to the old
office program. - Office xp standard version 2002.

Infected with what, and what makes you think so? Did you use an
antivirus program (such as Norton, McAfee, AVG, etc.) to remove
the infection?
