How to use Visual Reports

I want to report resource usage using the Group field in Visual report.
Whenever I view the report I cannot access the group field in any fo the
"PivotTable Field List" areas. How do I filter and total by Group using
visual reports in MS Project 2007?

Hello jackie777,

In the Visual report, add Resources to the pivot table through the
field list. Right click on a resource and choose "Show properties
in report" and select Group. This will add the group data to the
report. I don't believe you can use the Group field as a pivot
table filter as it is a property of the resource and not a "field"
accessible on it's own. I have had some mild success by converting
the pivot table to formulas (Options tab under PivotTableTools
context tab). Once the Pivot Table has been converted to formulas
you can use standard filtering to filter the list of resources by
group.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thx Julie - I was able to add "Groups" and then use the "Group" capability on
the pivot table menu to subtotal. However what do you mean by "standard
filtering to filter the list resources by group"? How do I access the
standard filtering?

Thanx,
Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Using the Grouping option on the pivot table is a *much* better
answer than the one I found. In order to use the Filtering option,
I needed to convert the pivot table to formulas. So, ignore my
answer and stick with the one you found!
