How to write a letter to unsuccessful RFP bidders

I am trying to respond to two companies who submitted a response to a RFP and
were unsuccessful. I have not been able to locate any templates. Do you
have any suggestions as to a letter template?

Why do you need a template? Why not just send the companies an email
explaining that their bids were too high or that their schedules were not in
line with your needs?

If the quality of their services/products for you or others was substandard
then tell them that. A good company should appreciate the honesty but don't
carry your criticism too far.

Consider text like, "Thanks for submitting your bid to develop our website
but after careful review of bids, we selected another company for the
project. Your quick response to our RFP was very much appreciated and it
allowed us to make our decision in a timely manner. Thanks again."

Or, "After considerable review of bids to develop our website, we selected a
company that has created sites that meet our vision of a corporate website.
We regret that we did not select your company because of issues with the
quality (of the graphics)/functionality/content (because of typographical
errors) of sites that your company has created in the past. Those sites did
not quite meet our expectations. Thanks for providing your bid in a timely
manner."
