Hyperlinks have become Very Slow in execution with last update

Office 2007 running on XP My Word Documents and Tasks in Outlook are all
hyperlinked for "ease" of work flow. Since the last Security Update on
October 14, Outlook and Word seem to be scanning or something everytime I
click a link. It now takes 30 seconds or so to open a doucment that is
hyperlinked to a Task or another Document. I looked for a way to turn off
scaning, but cannot find any solutions. Has anyone else seen this issue.
