I can't view gif animation in Slide show

I have inserted .gif file into PowerPoint slide. When I try to preview it it
doesn't work.
In the help file I see the instruction"You have to click Play automatically
in the message", but I don't see any message.

Which version of PowerPoint do you use? Animated GIF files are only animated
in PowerPoint 2000, 2002 and 2003 (and 2007, of course).

And you have to switch to slide show view, they are shown as static images
in normal view.

You don't need any "Play" settings, those are only for videos like mpg, avi
or wmv.

Ani Gifs are just inserted as a picture (insert > picture > from file)

They play automatically and you cant really control them (play, stop etc)

Hi,

On top of the advice from others, I think there was something in one of the
versions about gifs not playing correctly. Try Help| Check for updates.

Animated GIFs play differently in different versions of PPT.
