I had a tech at my house the other day who saved all of my Outlook Contact
info in a backup .pst file. so that I could re-install Windows XP OS and all
Office and other apps. Now I'm trying to get the data that used to reside in
Outlook (contacts, old messages, etc) and don't know how to do this. I have 3
files which I think are related to this: an 80 MB Outlook "Office Data File"
(.pst); a 12 MB Archive "Office Data File"; and a small Extend "DAT file".
Right now they're just sitting in a folder on my desktop with the other
files/programs that the tech backed up for me. Thanks for any help you can
provide.

Most likely the 80MB file will be your former Outlook Data File. Hopefully
this tech backed up more than just your Contacts. All your previous Outlook
data should be in this file. It should have a PST extension and should
contain all the mail, calendar, contacts data from your earlier
installation.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:

Thanks Russ. The "how-to" site was perfect and simple!
