I hi-lited words in one column to change font size-It's now stuck

While completing a document in Office Ready, (WORD document) I decided to
change the font to a smaller size. I hi-lited words changed font from 9 to 8
& the words did " not" change size. The words are all hi=lited and are stuck
in this mode.
Please help.
