I want to disable bullets and numbering permanently

I want to get rid of the automatic bullets and numbers. I have tried going
to "format", then "bullets and Numbers" and then clicking "none" and OK, but
bullets keep popping up anyway. HOW CAN I DISABLE THEM???? I don't think I
EVER, EVER will want to use them.

Bulleted Lists and Automatic Numbered Lists
