I want to know how to go back to a specific point in....

Can any one assist with the problem of going back from one slide to another
specific point in a multi-layered slide?

Sure we can, but you gotta explain what it is you are trying to do. If you
can give us specifics I am certain we can find an answer for you.

I have created a slide presentation, each slide contains many layers. One of
the layers contains a button which takes you to another slide within the same
presentation and advances automatically to yet another slide.
What I require is the "next slide" to go back to the original multi-layered
slide and to the point in which I left it.
Hope this makes sense?

Not sure what you mean by layers, this is not Photoshop. <g> However, if I
read you right you need to put an object on a slide (say a button or square)
right click the object and select Action Settings. Here you are given the
option of hyperlinking. Simply select the slide you wish to jump to.

To return to a slide during your slide show at the point at which you left
it, you should be able to type the slide number and press ENTER.

In addition to what Austin has suggested. Be aware that when you jump back
to as slide you are brought back, after all the events on that slide are
completed (the end) You could put a blank slide before the one you want to
come back to, and link back to it. But at this point in time AFAIK, there is
no way to link back to an event in the middle of a slide.
