IE hangs using OWC

My app queries SQL Server and displays results in IE using OWC charts and spreadsheets. We have several systems running the app, with different versions of Windows, OWC, IIS, IE, Office, etc. All systems are pretty much fully patched up. The app works great except on one system. On that system, queries that work elsewhere sometimes hang. The chart/spreadsheet is not displayed. At that point, explorer seems hung. You can't open any new windows or dialogs. You can move windows that were open, minimize them, and sometimes close them. Basically you can't do much of anything except turn the power off to the system. Sometimes the same query works fine several times in a row, sometimes it hangs first time. Doesn't seem to matter much what query we try.

Not enough room here to discuss all the stuff we've tried, but any suggestions on how to debug or what to check on would be helpful. Windows, IIS, IE, OWC, etc are the same versions on the broken system as they are on working systems. Problem seems to be browser-side, as connecting to the server-side stuff on a different system doesn't help. The broken system is XP Pro, IIS 5.1, OWC 10 (tried 11 also), IE 6.0, Office Pro 2003 (upgraded from 2000 Premium).

It may be the case that the problem only happens in our UI, where the OWC is embedded in inline frames and other HTML. It isn't clear our experiment was doing what we wanted, but it seems to not hang outside the framework of our UI.

Using OWC 11, the problem happens almost every time. In OWC 10, less frequently but still within just a few queries.

Thanks.

Bill
