Images not showing on screen in Word 2003

Folks,

I've noticed that when I open a Word document (Office XP/2003) with images
(JPG/BMP/GIF) in it the images do not show. If I click where the image should
be then I get the little square handles and if I quickly whiz the mouse wheel
and scroll then the image appears until I scroll it off the screen but when I
scroll back up it's back to being "invisible." I didn't have this with Word
2000 and have gone through all the settings but everything appears as it
should be.

When I installed Office XP I also installed Acrobat 6.0 Professional and
wonder if this is forcing a "bug" in Word as images print/PDF fine, even
though they are not visible on screen. Unfortuantely, I am too
lazy/busy/needy to uninstall Acrobat to see if it fixes the issue!

I've been through Office Upadate and installed all the suggested patches and
security updates, to no avail.

Thoughts welcome...

P.S. I've just noticed a similar query in this forum - when I posted I was in

I will look at the stuff suggested in the other thread but, meanwhile, any
additional thoughts welcome!
