Immediately shuts down after opening

I have Outlook 2002/XP, it's been running fine forever.
Last 2 days, when I open, 9 out of 10 times, it
immediately closes on its own. No new programs
installed, I archive when it asks, inbox only has about
20 emails. I have rebooted, ran detect and repair.

Any help?

My husband's PC is having the same problem. It seems there are a lot of folks asking about why Outlook shuts down, but very few replies as to what to do.

He is using a Dell that is 18 months old and came with XP. He did not install any new software and he keeps his virus checker up to date. Outlook will not stay open for him. It gives him an error and shuts down if he clicks on an e-mail. Detect and Repair does not help. Installing Office XP (he was using 2000) did not help. System Restore back to December did not help. Basically he can no longer use his e-mail program.

Could someone please address this? Thank you.
