I need to copy contacts in 2003 outlook and install into another PC. When
boss tries to import contacts into her outlook, it shows up as a read only
excel spread. What is this troubled pc user doing wrong? Help before I am
fired. Danielle

How are you exporting them? Did you export them to a PST file for her to
import?

Yes-per your company's website. PST is was, and using the wizard who is
trying to kill me. I am amazed at your response time..

So, can she open the PST file using Outlook's File menu > Open > Outlook
Data File command?

I take it you're not using Exchange.

Your problem is you're trying to use export/import to do this. Don't.
Create a new PST with File>New>Outlook Data File. Enter a new folder (or
accept the default), enter a file name (or accept the default) and click OK.
Enter a display name (or accept the default) and click OK. Now, right-click
the Contacts folder you want him to have and choose Copy. Select as the
destination the name of the PST you just created and click OK. When the
copy finishes, right-click the name of the PST you just created and choose
Close. Close Outlook. Rename the PST you created, giving it a different
extension, like ".psz". Start Outlook and mail this file to the boss.

When she gets it, she should save it to her hard drive and rename its
extension back to ".pst". Then, in Outlook, she can click File>Open>Outlook
Data File, browse to this file, select it, and click OK. The PST and the
Contacts it contains will now be available for her in Outlook. She can
either enable that Contacts folder as an address book to use it directly, or
she can copy the contents of that folder to her own Contacts.

I am going to attempt your suggestion. Brian, You are a great
man...TYTYTYTYTY and I hope this works...(Your the first to tell me to quit
using import/export which I am thrilled to do)~D
