I've just bought a new laptop, and i want to transfer all contact and calender info stored on my desktop to my laptop. What is the best way to do this?

Best practice for retaining the most data and custom settings is to re-use
your existing .PST file on the laptop (but don't overwrite the one Outlook
has created there...just open the old .PST alongside the new one and then
tell Outlook to use the old one as the default). Look here for all the
information you need on backup and restoration of Outlook data:

Paul:

If your old laptop is connected to a network, export the
contacts and calendar to a pst file and store on a
network share. Then import the file when the new laptop
is setup.

You could also burn the pst file to a CD or usb drive and
import when the new laptop is setup.

Hope this help.
