Import / Export DBF Files

I have a problem when I try to import any DBF file. I get the following
error message:
['' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid
characters or punctuation and that it is not too long.]

I have tried to import quite a few different DBF files just to make sure
that it wasn't the file that was the problem. I then tried to EXPORT a table
to a DBF file, and got the same message. I can import XLS and TXT files.

Do I need a driver update to work with DBF files?
Thanks,

I believe the file names must be in 8.3 format: long file names will not
work.

Hi Jon,

To go a little further with what Doug said, try copying a file to
C:\Test.dbf (also copy and rename CDX and FPT if present) and see if you can
import that file. Also, try creating a DBF by creating and saving an Excel
spreadsheet (everything should be named with 8 or fewer characters and begin
with an alpha character or an underscore. Then try importing that.

This will help you narrow down the source of the problem.
