xp crashed, and all data files from microsoft outlook 2002 were saved. After reinstalling xp, and microsoft office 2002 (with microsoft outlook,) we tried to import our old contact-emails etc.., from our old outlook. note: All files but windows system files were save.

We are at a loss of how to do this. Please advise, thanks. . .

if we are in the wrong place to post, please let us know where to go

Did you get any responses to your query. I have to do a reformat on our laptop, I made a .pst backup file on to a CD and now when I go to import via File - Open - Data File Mgt - "file access denied". The files there it just won't let me access it?

Appreciate it if you got any feedback.

regards,

Instead of importing, just find and reuse your original .PST file. (It may
be in a hidden or system folder since you're using Windows XP.) Look at the
following two articles for help with this -- one is a primer on Outlook
files, and the other gives instructions for moving to a new Outlook 2002
machine (or a reinstalled copy of Outlook 2002).

Don't import. Just open the PST with File>Open>Outlook Data File

Copy the PST to your hard drive, remove the Read Only attribute, and use
File>Open to open it.
