Import from SQL into Project Professional

I'm a newbie.
I have some SQL Server DB's that I want to import into Project Pro. There
are customized tables and I'm wondering what kind of format the data needs to
have in order to bring the DB's into Project Pro., i.e. if I have a field
with a 3000 character limit, does Project Pro have a limit of 500, or project
identifiers being only numbers and so on. Thanks so much for any help.
