Import Tasks and Set Outline Level

I want to import about 700 Events, Tasks and Activities from an integrated
master plan done in MS Word into Project. I can paste the column into the
Task Name field however none of the hierarchical grouping is preserved, i.e.
the summary and subordinate tasking is lost and everythiing is at the same
level.

I can easily produce a column of outline level numbers for the tasks but I
can't seem to paste the numbers into the Outline Level field of Project. If
this would work it would solve my problem and set the Outline Levels where
they should be.

The Outline Level field can be edited manually but it won't accept a paste
and it won't accept a formula either (the level could be easily calculated).

Is there any way to do this besides manually?

Hi,

If you paste the names and levels into an Excel sheet then Open the Excel
sheet in Project with an appropriate map the Outline Level field is
handlesd.
