I'm trying to import my 2004 identity into my new 2008 version of entourage, but when i go to select it the dialogue box says that there are no identities found in the folder.

Any reason it can't recognize my 2004 identity as an identity?

Thanks

Your Office 2004 Identity needs to be in this location or you can browse to
where it's located.

~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities

If you are checking the right location, it's possible the database file is
damaged. Were you having problems before the upgrade?

I placed that folder there, and it still won't find it.

I was not having any trouble before.

This is a brand new computer with a clean install of Office 2008 and Snow Leopard 10.6.1

Could this be the issue?

What version of office 2008 are you referring to? Are you using the webservices version?

Generally an import issue where even the identity files cannot be recognized is really a corrupt DB issue as Diane mentioned. Are you abe to open your older 2004 identity with the 2004 version of Mac Office?

It shouldn't be an issue. Can you open Entourage in a new blank Identity?
Are you upgraded to 12.2.1? Verify 12.2.1 update:

<http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2009/08/verify_1221_update.html>

Verify the permissions on the old database folder. Do a Get Info on a new
database file and compare to the old database.

You might try to force an update. Put the Main Identity from the Office 2004
Identities folder in the Office 2008 Identities folder and Entourage might
open it and do the upgrade process.

You will need to remove some Microsoft fonts that were replaced by newer
version installed by Snow Leopard. See this article for how to remove fonts
and clearing font caches.

If all of this fails you will need to export your data for import. How to
manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move to a new
Identity same version or revert to an older version)
