Problem importing Entourage 2004 Main identity

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Hi, I am amazed that I cannot find the answer to this here or anywhere else:

I have installed Office 2008 and need all my emails, calendars, contacts etc from Office 2004.

When I go to File >Import > Entourage information from earlier version > Entourage 2004 I get "No Entourage 2004 identities found" even though there is a Main Identity in ~user/documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 identities.

If I browse to it I get the same message.

This sounds like a problem with the Identity. If you still have Office 2004
installed, you can export the data as .rge or MBOX files and import those
into 08.

Thanks for that, but...

I have about 80 folders or subfolders in my Inbox with rules working to get mail into the right folders, so it is essential that I retain the structure and existing content of those. mbox is thus impractical.

I have tried outputting a .rge of the whole identity. It errors saying that there is a problem with the database which should be verified. I have verified the database. It says it is fine.

Is there some way that I can get around this loop of frustration?

I have about 80 folders or subfolders in my Inbox with rules working to get
mail into the right folders, so it is essential that I retain the structure

Use this script to export as MBOX files. It will fail on the folder with
corruption. You can watch the files being created in the Finder. Also have
the Activity Monitor open and watch the Microsoft Database daemon. It will
be 0.0 when the script stops.

Once you find the folder with corruption, I would rename it with an XX in
front of the name so it pops to the bottom. Deal with it at the end. Start
the script over and see if it¹s just the one folder that has a problem.

For the problem folder(s), divide into parts. Manually drag each section to
the desktop and be sure all messages were exported. Eventually you¹ll find
the corruption. Tons of fun and lots of hard work. I do this for clients
that don¹t have the time or experience to do this.

Export folders as MBOX files (includes subfolders)

If it is just one folder, you could delete the folder and let Entourage do
the .rge export since it¹s so much easier to import.
