importing excel chart into powerpoint

When I try to insert a chart in to powepoint, then edit
it in an attempt to import a chart from excel, I get the
error "Cannot input all of the number formats. All of
the number formats have not been applied to the
datasheet." Then when I click "OK", not all of the chart
is inserted.
