Importing Excel Spreadsheet Problem

S

Steve Goodrich

Since upgrading to Excel 2003 I can no longer import an Excel spreadsheet
into Access 97, this worked fine with Excel 2002
When using the import spreadsheet wizard to import my spreadsheet I get an
error message "There is no object in this Control"

I have tried this with a new db as well as four or my old db's but can not
get the spreadsheet to import.

Can anyone offer a solution please

I haven't encountered this exact problem, but it sounds like you are
describing an "older" version of Access ('97) not being able to understand
the file format of a "newer" version of Excel ('03).

Have you tried using Excel to "save back" to an earlier version of Excel,
then try importing?

AFAIK, there weren't any file format changes between Excel 97 and Excel
2003.

I have no problems using that same combination (Access 97/Excel 2003) on my
laptop (running WinXP Home SP2)

Hi Jeff
Thanks for the suggestion, tried saving as all Excel versions listed in the
save as... box but same error message with each

as i say it worked fine with excel 2002 and access 97

Given Douglas' response, and your trial, you've stumped me. Perhaps one of
the other readers can offer an approach...

Steve stated "can not get the spreadsheet to import". Did you ever try with
a spreadsheet that is not _the_ spreadsheet?

<Thinking Out loud> Stupid question but are there any VBA Userforms in the
file
you are trying to import and if so what "Controls" are available in Excel
but
not Access? (If any?! - newbie to Access)

No. Just a simple list
