importing from Excel

I recently purchased Access 2002 and am trying to import
and Excel file saved as Excel 97. I receive message that
I should check to see if file exists and if it does is it
in the correct format? Please help.

How are you trying to import the file?

I open a blank database, go to get external data, brings
up a screen that gives me choices for getting (ex. Import
table) and then choose file.

Did you change the file type to ".xls" at the bottom of the "open file"
window when it showed? I am not sure why you would get this error otherwise;
then again, if you didn't change the file type, it wouldn't show the EXCEL
files.

What is the full path to the EXCEL file that you want to import? And its
name?
