Importing Word document into existing Master

I've created a Master document in Publisher with special footers. When I
import a Word file, Publisher creates a new file rather than inserting the
Word file into the existing Master.

Can you help?

Create a text box, select the text box, right-click, click change text, text
file, browse to the Word file.
Publisher is a desktop publishing application. Long documents are best done in
Word.
