Impossible to update tasks from Web Access

S. Dekooninck

Hello,

We have a problem for updating tasks from Web Access after
reinstalling Project Server (Windows 2000 Server SP3 ; SQL Server
+analysis server SP1 ; STS + Project 2002).
Everything worked fine (security and enterprise customisation have
been done without problem ; projects republished; Web Access is OK and
the users can see the projects, their tasks etc...).

But when a user try to update some task, there is a message on the
status bar "web site found ; waiting forward server response ..."
(approximate translation) and after a long time, there is a message
displayed "error on the page". And it is true for all users,
independently of the configuration of their PCs....
But if we reload the task page, we can see the updates so they have
been well recorded by the server, but not sent to the project manager
for project updating (nothing on the update page)

Before the reinstallation, it worked quite well so we don't know what
happens.
I've tried to find some articles about my problem on the KB but
nothing relevant.

Thanks for your help

Sebastien:

SQL Server Service Pack 2 is a minimum requirement for Project Server to
work. I strongly recommend that you not run any SQL box with less than
Service Pack 3.

Hi Sebastien,

If Gary's solution does not work, I would recommend the following:

1) Make sure the PWA site is set up as a trusted site and play around with
lowering the security settings.

2) Take a look at the security settings for the MSADC folder. These
problems typically occur when the C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSADC
folder (and the files in the folder) do not have sufficient rights.
Right-click the folder and set the security options to minimally allow users
to read & execute and read. Do the same for the files configured within the
MSADC folder.
