In MS Project 2003, I am unable to open a mpp file saved as .mdb? I have
windows XP (SP2) and MS Project 2003 on my laptop. I am getting an error
message - "The file could not be opened". I am not sure if I have to get any
MSP update. I have also used detect and repair utility but it did not help
resolve this problem. Can anybody suggest a solution?

Hello mukul,

Sorry, I can't reproduce what you report. I am able to take a Project
2003 file, save as an Access db file, and re-open the mdb file without
incident.

Have you tested with another project file to help determine whether it
is a Project problem or a file problem?

Try installing at least SP2 for Project and see if it helps. You can see the
current SP level under Help, About Project menu. If there is no SP number
(EG SP1) then you have no SP installed and should install at least SP2
