In outline, how to change style for body text

I'm working on a big document, and using an outine in Word 2000. One
thing I've noticed is that 'body text' defaults to 'normal', which for
me, has no indents. I'd like to make it so it defaults to 'body text
indent.' I know I can change my 'normal' so it had indents, but I'd
rather not since that affects other styles. Is there a way to make it
so that when I demote something to body text, it defaults to a
different style?

Create a new style based on your normal style and then use it.
