Inbox not showing new emails

Laptop running XP
Outlook 2000
Exchange 5.5

The only way that I can see new emails listed in the inbox
is if I click on another folder. Even clicking on
Send/Receive does not display new emails. I have no
problems with desktops running W2k. Any ideas? Thanks.
