Incorrect Automatic entries in To: line of outlook e-mail

WHen I am writing an e-mail and I begin to type in the To: line I get old or outdated addresses that have been deleted or corrected in my contact list but continue to appear as options in the To: line.

How can I correct this?

When the old addresses appear in the drop down list, highlight each using
the arrow keys, and then press delete.

Autocomplete doesn't look up anything in your address book - just relies on
what you've typed in before.
