InfoPath 2007 emailing to any version of Outlook

I am using InfoPath 2007. When I email the form it works great for users
with Outlook 2007 but not any earlier versions. Those users get an XSN and
XML file but cannot open it. From what I have read those users should be
able to fill out the form. I just cannot figure out how to make that happen.

You should be able to email as an attachment, without including the form in
the body of the email and be fine with any mail client. They just need
InfoPath to open the attached xml.

If it has an embedded view then other mail programs will not be able to
handle it properly.

Clay,

Thanks for the response. I guess I am confused as to what should be
attached. If the XSN file is attached the users still cannot open it.

The XSN is the template and typically is published out to a central location
accessible to everyone. It is used to define how the xml data should look.
Users would open the XSN to start a new form or the XML for an existing form.
The XSN needs to be published to a set location, if not then yes they will
get an error. I beleive 2007 allows one to be delivered via email but other
mail clients would not be able to understand that.

Design you form and then go through the publishing wizard.

Clay,

I went through the publishing process. The XSN file gets sent, but users
cannot open it.

Where did you publish it to? SharePoint, a Network Share, ?

They have InfoPath right?

They should be able to open the XSN and get a blank form and then either
save the form or submit the form depending on what you have setup.

XML forms created before may not be able to be opened since the location of
the template has changed.

Well, That is a problem.

You would need MOSS2007 and InfoPath Form Services to be able to host a
InfoPath form in a browser. It would also need to be saved as browserc
ompatible and an admin would have to publish it.

You should be able to research on Microsoft's site.
