Input the real Work for a specific day

Hi everybody,

How to do this in MS Project:
I'd like to input the following information to Task Usage View: the Actual Work (equivalent to effective effort in my mind), MS Project support this information.

Moreover, I'd like to input the real Work for a specific day

(Example: a developer code the program A in 80man-hour, but his skill is bad, so 80man-hour only equivalent to 60man-hour effective (60= Actual Work). But there is not custom field in Task Usage view, and MS Project doesn't support this function.

Is there another way to do this?

Thank you so much

Hi,

In the yellow timephased area of the Task or Resource Usage View,
right-mouse-click and select Actual work. Set the timescale to daily and
enter your actual hours on the day they were done. Edit Work for remaining
days to match what is now expected to be done.

Note that if there are 8h or work and you enter 4h of actual work, the 4h
left to be done are automatically added to the end of the assignment.

Thank you so much.

I need one more field to input the real hours of a developer which spend in
a day.
Example:
Mon, 20/4/2008
ActualWork 4
He works in 6 hours

A developer spend 6 hours to code program A. But his skill is bad, so the
effective hours is 4 hours. I write 4 to Actual Work field.

How can do this? Thanks a lot for answering.

Hello,

Set the task type as Fixed Work. Apply the Tracking table to the Task
Usage view. Enter the 4 hours of work as Rod suggests and in the
Tracking table, set the Actual Duration to 6 hours. That will set the
assignment unit at 67%.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks for your support, but it does not meet my requirement.

I need to track the Actual Work and

Task Usage View:
Tue Wed Thu
Fri
Work 8h 8h 8h
4h
Actual Work 8h 8h 8h
4h
real hour (eg. Custom Detail...) 10h 10h 10h
4h

On Tue, the Developer A has worked in company for 10h to code the program X,
but we can't use 10h for Actual Work. The Actual Work is only 8h. We only
record 10h for internal management, so we need to add a custom detail to
Task Usage View, but MS Project doesn't support.

Thank you for the additional clarification. You are correct, there
are no custom fields available for timescaled data. The ability to
track the difference between the 8 hours of work that you can charge
for versus the 10 hours of work actually expended by Developer A is
not possible in timescaled data. The best I can suggest is to use as
I noted duration for the period of time the developer took and actual
work for the chargeable hours. You can use other fields (NumberX,
DateX, TextX etc) bun none of them are timescaled.
