Work per day is wrong

B

Bill

Hi All,

Resource is working on a job at 20% for 20 days = 4 days of work

To me that should be 0.2 days of work per day but the Resource Usage view is
showing 0.22d. This seems to be consistent across my project. Task Type is
Fixed Duration. Calendar has been set to 7.4 hour day and 37 hour week.
Start time etc have been set to make up a 7.4 hour days.

I can't spot the cause of the 0.22days. Can anyone suggest anything please?

Ta.
Bill.

Bill,

This is because the changes have not been applied to Project Calendar
appropriately.

Open Project | Click Tools | Change Working Time
Based on your 7.4 hrs per day the Monday thorugh Friday Calendar should
reflect 7.4 hours which is equivalent to 7 hours 24 minutes.
Highlight Monday - Friday and then change the working time to
8-12 PM and 1PM - 4:24 PM. Then save it. You can pick different time slots
but make sure it adds up to 7 hours - 24 minutes.

This should correct the 0.22days to 0.2 days.

If you have to make this change on enterprise calendar then follow the link
below.

Hope this helps. Please do rate the post if it helps. Thanks

Hi Bill,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

This could be because your Project Start Date is still set to the default
0800 start. Change the date displey in Tools/Options.../view tab at the top
to include a date with a time yo see the effect. You also might like to see
FAQ Item: 5. Default Working Hours.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Bill I am glad it worked. I will highly apprciate if you can mark "Yes" on
the question which says "was this post helpful to you" at the bottom of my
reply. It will help other users use the same solution.

Gagan,

Happy to do that but have checked your original reply and there is no such
option!

Bill,

Thanks for trying to rate the reply.

When you highlight the response, on the right hand pane at the bottom there
is a blue color line with a question 'Was this post helpful to you ?' and
command buttons Yes and No.

Its ok if you are unable to find it, I highly appreciate you even trying to
rate it.

Thanks

Gagan

I believe that facility only exists on the web-based discussion groups
reader on the MS website. Users accessing the groups via Usenet-based
servers with newsreaders such as Outlook Express won't have those options.
