Insert and resize image to exactly fit screen in show

M

Mitch Gallant

When an image is inserted into a slide, what is the setting(s) to make the
image exactly resize to the screen size in slide-show mode? Should be
obvious i know.

Insert it as a background instead.
Click Format > Background.
Click on the dropdown field and select Fill Effects.
Click on the Picture tab, then click "Select Picture".
Search for the picture you want to include, click Insert.
Make sure "Lock picture aspect ratio" is unchecked. Click OK, then click
Apply.

For PowerPoint 2002/XP and above,
If you are using the default page setup, which is 10 inches by 7.5 inches,
you may want to try out Insert > Picture > New Photo Album. This allows you
to insert multiple images more easily.

Thanks tohlz. I was thinking of that approach.
I would like the image to fill either the vertical or horizontal dimention
automatically (keeping aspect ratio or original image), depending on which
doesn't crop anything.
I would have thought this would be a thing people commonly want to do in
powerpoint and would be included in the basic image insert options.
Thanks,
- Mitch

PERFECT. And it has a "fit to slide" option which is what I wanted.
Thanks,

I would use the RnR (Steve Rindsberg, Brian Reilly) PPTools Starter Set.
It's free. And it's got some fantastic tools (some of which I even
suggested!) http://www.pptools.com You'll want the "pick up size" and hammer
tools.

If you're batch importing a bunch of images, I'd opt for Shyam Pillai's
Image Importer Wizard. http://skp.mvps.org/iiw.htm It will allow you to
import one (or however many) images per slide and size them accordingly. Or
you can use PPT's Photo Album feature (Insert|Picture|Photo Album), but
unfortunately, it doesn't allow you to crop or otherwise adjust the images
once on the slides.

Yes, you are right. But I would normally do all the editing (if there is any)
using graphic editing program such as photoshop before putting them on
PowerPoint. If you use the transparency tool on the picture toolbar, it
doesn't always work out well. Just a thought.
